Professor Snail Guide
Professor Snail is a special NPC in the northern part of Ginger Island who manages the Island Field Office. Completing his field surveys rewards Golden Walnuts and eventually unlocks the Ostrich Incubator recipe.
How to Unlock Professor Snail
- Go to the Ginger Island North Dig Site.
- Spend 10 Golden Walnuts on the parrot next to the broken bridge to repair the bridge to the dig site.
- In the mushroom cave north of the dig site, use a bomb or slingshot to destroy the boulder.
- After rescuing Professor Snail, he will return to the Island Field Office (inside the tent).
Professor Snail cannot receive gifts or be married, but you can talk to him for hints on fossil locations.
Fossil Donation Tasks
At the Island Field Office, you can donate fossils to assemble four complete animal skeletons. Each completed fossil grants Golden Walnut rewards.

- Source: Randomly obtained when clearing weeds in the Ginger Island East jungle.

Bat Mummy
- Requires: 1 Bat Mummy
- Source: Mining stones in the Volcano Dungeon (0.5% chance)
- Completion Reward: 1 Golden Walnut
Island Surveys
Professor Snail also conducts two island survey quizzes. You can only answer once per day.
Purple Flower Survey
- Question: How many purple flowers are there on the island?
- Answer: 22
- Reward: 1 Golden Walnut
Purple Starfish Survey
- Question: How many purple starfish are there on the island?
- Answer: 18
- Reward: 1 Golden Walnut
Completion Reward
After completing all fossil donations and island surveys, Professor Snail will reward you with:
- Ostrich Incubator Recipe — Used to hatch Ostrich Eggs and raise ostriches that produce Ostrich Eggs.
Useful Tips
- In the donation interface, you can select the “Hint” button for clues on item locations.
- Professor Snail’s dialogue contains hints (e.g., frogs are in dark, damp places; bats can withstand high temperatures).
- Golden Coconuts can be obtained by fishing around Ginger Island or traded with coconuts at the Desert Oasis.
- It is recommended to complete the Large Animal Fossil first (the most rewarding), then gradually complete the other fossils.
- The Bat Mummy requires mining stones in the Volcano Dungeon, so it is recommended to collect it while exploring the volcano.
