The Strange Capsule is one of the rarest random events in Stardew Valley. It is an eerie, alien-like artifact that can appear on your farm under very specific conditions, adding a touch of mystery to your farming life.
How to Trigger the Event
Spawn Conditions
- Farm Type: Can occur on any farm type.
- Year Requirement: The event can only happen after Year 1 (starting from Year 2, Spring 1).
- Chance: There is a 1% chance each night for the event to occur, provided the conditions are met.
- Tile Requirement: The game will attempt to place the Strange Capsule on a valid empty tile on your farm. If no valid tile is found, the event will not occur.
What Happens
When the event triggers, you will receive the following message in the morning:
“A strange sound was heard in the night…”
Upon investigating your farm, you will find a large, pulsating Strange Capsule somewhere on your property.
The Strange Capsule Item
- The capsule is a decorative item that can be picked up using a tool (like a pickaxe or axe).
- It can be placed on your farm as a unique decoration.
- The capsule emits a faint glow and has an otherworldly appearance.
Transformation: Broken Glass Hoe
After approximately 3 days, the Strange Capsule will undergo a transformation:
- The capsule will break open.
- It becomes the Broken Glass Hoe, a unique decorative item.
- The Broken Glass Hoe resembles a shattered glass version of the basic hoe and serves as a rare trophy of this event.
Tips for Players
- Patience is Key: With only a 1% chance per night, this event is extremely rare. Do not expect it to happen immediately.
- Clear Your Farm: Keep empty tiles available on your farm to increase the chance that the game can place the capsule.
- Year 2+ Focus: Since it cannot happen in Year 1, focus on other goals in your first year.
