Stardew Valley Trash Bear Guide

The Trash Bear is a special NPC that appears in Cindersap Forest starting in Year 3. By fulfilling its requests, you can trigger a heartwarming cutscene that cleans up trash around the valley and rewards you with visual improvements to the town.

How to Unlock

  • Trash Bear appears on non-rainy, non-festival days beginning in Year 3
  • Located at the bottom of Cindersap Forest, near the Spring Onion patch and the entrance to The Sewers

How It Works

Trash Bear will ask for 4 items total, in this order:

  1. First request: 1 random seasonal fish or foraged item
  2. Second request: 1 random seasonal fish or foraged item
  3. Third request: 1 cooked dish
  4. Fourth request: 1 cooked dish

There is no time limit to complete these requests. However, Trash Bear does not appear on rainy days, so you cannot fulfill requests on those days.

Request Rules

  • Requests will never change until completed
  • If the season changes and the previous request was seasonal, the request will update to match the new season
  • You can check Trash Bear’s current request by interacting with it

Rewards

After giving Trash Bear all 4 requested items, a cutscene will play:

  2. Flies up on an umbrella made of leaves
  3. Cleans up trash in the unreachable area near the water in Cindersap Forest, replacing it with bushes and trees
  4. Flies to Pelican Town and removes the trash in Pam’s front yard
  5. Upgrades Dusty’s dog pen with a proper dog house and fence

Visual Changes

  • Cindersap Forest river area becomes cleaner and greener
  • Pam’s trailer area looks tidier
  • Dusty’s dog pen gets a major visual upgrade

Tips

  1. Stock Up on Cooked Dishes - Since the 3rd and 4th requests can be any cooked dish, having a variety prepared helps
  2. Check Every Sunny Day - Trash Bear only appears on non-rainy days
  3. Seasonal Planning - If you’re close to a season change and the request is seasonal, it will update automatically
  4. No Rush - There’s no time limit, so take your time gathering the requested items
  5. Cooking Skill Helps - Having a well-stocked kitchen makes the cooked dish requests much easier
