Stardew Valley Mossy Seed Guide
Overview
Mossy Seeds were introduced in Stardew Valley 1.6. When planted, they grow into trees that are permanently covered in Moss, providing a reliable and renewable source of this crafting material.
How to Obtain Mossy Seeds
Mossy Seeds can be obtained from the following sources:
- Moss: Harvesting Moss from trees in the wild or on your farm has a chance to yield a Mossy Seed.
- Green Rain Event: During the rare โGreen Rainโ weather event, many trees become covered in Moss, providing abundant harvesting opportunities and potential seeds.
- Tree Stumps: Moss-covered tree stumps may occasionally produce Mossy Seeds.
How to Grow a Moss-Covered Tree
- Select the Mossy Seed in your inventory.
- Plant it on your farm in an empty tile, similar to planting regular tree seeds.
- The tree will grow through 5 stages over time.
- Once fully grown, the tree will be permanently covered in Moss.
- Moss can be harvested from the tree repeatedly without chopping it down.
Moss-Covered Tree Behavior
- Seasons: Moss-covered trees grow in all seasons, including Winter.
- Moss Harvesting: Once fully grown, the tree produces Moss that can be harvested. The Moss regrows over time.
- No Spreading: Unlike Mushroom Trees, Moss-covered trees do not spread to adjacent tiles.
- Tappers: You can place a Tapper on a Moss-covered tree, but it will produce the same products as the base tree type (e.g., Maple Syrup for Maple Trees).
