Stardew Valley Legendary Fish Guide
Legendary Fish are the rarest and most challenging fish to catch in Stardew Valley. There are 5 original Legendary Fish that can only be caught once per save file (or once per player in multiplayer), plus 5 Legendary Fish II (Extended Family) that appear during Mr. Qi’s special quest.
Original Legendary Fish (5)
These fish can only be caught once per save file (once per player in multiplayer). They appear with an orange crown in the fishing minigame.
1. Crimsonfish

- Stand at the far east end of the beach (repair the small bridge with 300 wood or purchase the second community upgrade)

- Each cast has an 18% chance (25% with Curiosity Lure)

- Fishing level 6 (naturally or with buffs)
- Must stand on the specific tile at the southernmost tip of Arrowhead Island

- Each cast has a 50% chance (Curiosity Lure does NOT increase this)
5. Mutant Carp

Requirements:
- No special requirements!
- Each cast in the sewers has a 10% chance (20% with Curiosity Lure)
- Easiest legendary fish to catch
Legendary Fish II - Extended Family (5)
These fish appear during Mr. Qi’s “Extended Family” special quest. They have the same locations and catching requirements as their original counterparts but can be caught in any season while the quest is active. You must catch all 5 within 3 days to complete the quest and earn 20 Qi Gems.
1. Son of Crimsonfish
- Same location and requirements as Crimsonfish
- Can be caught in any season during the quest
- Multiple can be caught per quest
2. Ms. Angler
- Same location and requirements as Angler
- Can be caught in any season during the quest
- Multiple can be caught per quest
3. Legend II
- Same location and requirements as Legend
- Can be caught in any season during the quest
- Multiple can be caught per quest
4. Glacierfish Jr.
- Same location and requirements as Glacierfish
- Can be caught in any season during the quest
- Multiple can be caught per quest
5. Radioactive Carp
- Same location and requirements as Mutant Carp
- Can be caught in any season during the quest
- Multiple can be caught per quest
General Tips for Catching Legendary Fish
- Use Curiosity Lure - Increases hook chance for most legendary fish (except Glacierfish)
- Eat Fishing Buff Foods - Dish o’ The Sea (+3 Fishing), Seafoam Pudding (+4 Fishing)
- Use Trap Bobber or Cork Bobber - Makes the minigame easier
- Practice Perfect Catches - Perfect catches increase quality and XP
- Use Challenge Bait - Can yield multiple legendary fish per catch (if you haven’t caught it yet)
- Use Magic Bait - Allows catching regardless of season, time, or weather
Fish Pond Notes
All legendary fish can be placed in Fish Ponds, but:
- Pond capacity is always 1 fish (cannot be increased)
- Only produce that specific fish’s Roe
- Legend fish roe is extremely valuable (Legend Roe sells for 2,530g base)
