Overview

The Lightning Rod is a unique crafting item that protects your farm from lightning strikes during storms while generating Battery Packs. Battery Packs are valuable crafting materials used in many late-game recipes and are essential for completing several bundles and quests.

MaterialQuantity
Iron Bar1
Refined Quartz1
Bat Wing5

How to Use

  1. Place Lightning Rods anywhere on your farm
  2. During a thunderstorm (random event in Spring, Summer, and Fall), lightning rods have a chance to be struck
  3. When struck, the rod will begin processing and create a Battery Pack the next morning
  4. The rod will show a charging animation while processing

Battery Pack Production

  • A Lightning Rod produces 1 Battery Pack per lightning strike
  • Processing completes the morning after being struck
  • Multiple rods increase your chances of collecting Battery Packs
  • Rods that are already processing cannot be struck again until finished

Battery Pack Uses

Battery Packs are used in numerous crafting recipes including:

  • Iridium Sprinkler
  • Crystalarium
  • Slime Egg-Press
  • Wood Lamp-post and Iron Lamp-post
  • Various quest items and bundle requirements

Tips & Strategy

  • Place multiple Lightning Rods across your farm to maximize collection chances
  • Lightning Rods also protect your crops and trees from being destroyed by lightning
  • Storms are most common in Summer, so prepare rods before then
  • Battery Packs sell for 500g each, but are generally more valuable for crafting
  • The Weather Report on TV can warn you about upcoming storms

Storm Mechanics

  • Lightning strikes are random during thunderstorms
  • Without Lightning Rods, lightning can destroy crops and trees
  • Each rod can only process one strike at a time
  • Having more rods than strikes per storm ensures maximum protection
  • Furnace - For smelting ore into bars (needed for crafting rods)
  • Various crafting recipes that require Battery Packs
