Mines Guide
The Mines are one of the most important locations in Stardew Valley, located in the mountains northeast of Pelican Town. Players can mine, fight monsters, and collect ores and artifacts here.
How to Enter the Mines
- Location: Northeast of Pelican Town, next to Robin’s house
- Unlock Condition: Receive a letter on day 5, the rock debris at the mine entrance is cleared
- Open Hours: Open all day (but you will pass out at 02:00)
- Elevator: Automatically saves an elevator stop every 5 floors descended
Mine Structure (120 Floors Total)
The Mines are divided into three themed areas:
Entrance Floor (Floor 0)
- Entrance hall with elevator
- Marlon’s Adventurer’s Guild is here
Normal Mines (Floors 1-39)
- Brown dirt theme
- Main ore: Copper Ore
- Main gems: Amethyst, Topaz, Jade
Ice Mines (Floors 40-79)
- Ice and snow theme, ground is ice blue
- Main ores: Iron Ore, Gold Ore
- Main gems: Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald
- Ice floor causes sliding (hold direction keys to counteract)
Lava Mines (Floors 80-120)
- Lava/volcano theme
- Main ores: Gold Ore, Iridium Ore (very rare)
- Main gems: Emerald, Diamond, Prismatic Shard
- Floor 120 has a chest reward

Elevator Mechanics
- Automatically saves an elevator stop every 5 floors descended (5, 10, 15…120)
- Next time entering the Mines, you can take the elevator directly to the highest unlocked floor
- If you pass out in the Mines that day, the next day starts from the highest unlocked floor
Useful Tips
Mining Efficiency
- Prioritize descending, find the ladder and immediately enter the next floor
- Use bombs to quickly clear large areas
- Bring plenty of food to restore energy and health
- Staircases can be used in emergencies to quickly descend to the next floor
Best Mining Days
- Lucky Day: Check daily luck on TV, high luck days make it easier to find ladders and ores
- Rainy Day: No need to water crops, can spend more time in the Mines
Essential Items
- Weapon: At least Steel Smallblade or better
- Food: Bring food that restores health and energy
- Bombs: For quickly blasting ores and stones
- Staircases: For quickly descending in emergencies
- Torches: To light up dark areas

- Mushroom Floor: Randomly appears, has many mushrooms to forage
- Monster Floor: Full of monsters, no ores
- Treasure Floor: Has many chests

Q: How to quickly reach floor 120? A: Craft many staircases (99 stone = 1 staircase), descend quickly on lucky days. Or bring bombs to blast large areas to find ladders.
Q: Where to find Iridium Ore? A: Very rare in Mines floors 100-120, main source is Skull Cavern. Iridium ore spawn rate increases after completing Mr. Qi quests.
Q: What happens if I pass out in the Mines? A: Lose some gold (up to 5,000g) and random items, next day starts from the highest unlocked floor.
