Qi Fruit Guide
Qi Fruit is a special crop introduced in Stardew Valley 1.5 as part of Mr. Qiβs challenging questline. This guide covers everything you need to know about growing Qi Fruit and completing the βQiβs Cropβ quest.
What is Qi Fruit?
Qi Fruit is a unique crop that grows from Qi Beans during the special βQiβs Cropβ quest. It has a very fast growth time and can become a Giant Crop, but sells for only 1g each.
How to Start the Qiβs Crop Quest
The quest becomes available from Mr. Qi after you have access to Qiβs Walnut Room on Ginger Island. Check the Special Orders board in Qiβs Walnut Room for the quest.
Quest Requirements
- Objective: Ship 500 Qi Fruit in 28 days
- Reward: 100 Qi Gems
- Difficulty: High - requires extensive farming preparation
Qi Beans
How to Get Qi Beans
Qi Beans can be obtained during the quest period through various activities:

Note: Qi Beans can also be found before accepting the quest, but they wonβt grow until the quest is active.

- Regrowth: None (single harvest)
- Special: Can grow into a Giant Crop (3x3 pattern)

Giant Qi Fruit
Qi Fruit is one of only five crops that can grow into a Giant Crop. Plant in a 3x3 pattern with no guarantee, but if successful, a Giant Qi Fruit yields multiple fruits when harvested with an axe.
Important: Giant Qi Fruit do NOT disappear when the quest ends and can be harvested during future quests.

Quest Completion Strategies
Strategy 1: Mass Planting
- Prepare a large farming area before accepting the quest
- Plant as many Qi Beans as possible on Day 1
- Use Speed-Gro to reduce growth time
- Replant immediately after harvest
Strategy 2: Giant Crop Farming
- Plant Qi Beans in 3x3 patterns
- Hope for Giant Qi Fruit to spawn
- Yields significantly more fruit per harvest
Strategy 3: Ginger Island Farm
- Use Ginger Island for additional farming space
- No season restrictions
- Can farm alongside your main farm
Important Quest Mechanics
Despawn Rules
When the quest ends (day after shipping 500 or when timer expires):
- All Qi Fruit and Qi Beans despawn from:
- Player inventories
- All chest types (including Big Chest, Stone Chest, Junimo Chest)
- Preserves Jars and Kegs
- Tables and display stands
- Marlonβs Item Recovery Service
- Growing crops in the field also disappear
Exceptions
- Giant Qi Fruit remain after the quest
- Qi Fruit wine and jelly in machines do NOT despawn
- If you chop a Giant Qi Fruit when the quest is NOT active, you get a Mystery Box instead

- Dislike: Everyone else (most villagers dislike Qi Fruit)
Tailoring
- Used with Cloth to create the Qi Mask
- Blue dye for clothing
Tips for Success
- Prepare Land First: Clear and till a massive area BEFORE accepting the quest
- Stockpile Qi Beans: Collect Qi Beans before accepting the quest (they wonβt grow until quest starts)
- Use Fertilizer: Speed-Gro is essential for maximizing harvests in 28 days
- Multiple Farms: Use both main farm and Ginger Island
- Giant Crop Strategy: Plant in 3x3 patterns for potential Giant Qi Fruit
- Save Some Beans: Keep extra Qi Beans for replanting throughout the quest
