Storage Capacity

  • Base Capacity: 240 pieces of hay
  • After the 1.6 update, capacity may vary depending on the game version and mods; some sources indicate capacity can reach 360 pieces of hay.
  • You can build multiple Silos, and hay capacity will stack.

How to Obtain Hay

1. Cutting Grass

  • Use a Scythe to cut Grass on your farm.
  • Each cut has a chance to yield hay.
  • Hay obtained from cutting grass is automatically stored in the Silo (if the Silo has space).

2. Purchasing

  • Buy hay from Marnie’s Ranch.
  • Price per piece of hay: 50g.
  • After purchasing, you need to use a Hopper or manually store it in the Silo.

3. Wheat Harvest

  • Harvesting Wheat has a chance to yield hay.

How to Use Hay

Auto-Feeding

  • After building a Coop or Barn, each building will have a Feeding Bench.
  • If the building has been upgraded with an Auto-feeder, hay will be automatically distributed from the Silo to the feeding bench.
  • Unupgraded buildings require manually placing hay into the feeding bench.

Manual Feeding

  1. Enter the Coop or Barn.
  2. Take hay from the feeding bench (provided there is hay in the Silo).
  3. Place the hay on empty feeding bench slots.

Tips

  • Build a Silo early β€” before you start raising animals, make sure you have a Silo to store hay.
  • Fall is a good time to cut grass and stock up on hay, as grass does not grow in Winter.
  • It is recommended to build multiple Silos to meet the feed demands of a large number of animals.
  • The Silo can be used in conjunction with a Hopper for automatic hay transfer.
  • In version 1.6, hay management is more convenient; it is recommended to make full use of the auto-feeding function.
  • Stable β€” Unlocks the horse
  • Shed β€” Expands storage and workspace
  • Well β€” Provides a water source
